well that was fun...

Kelsey, myself, Andie, Bill and Savitri

Had a fun hour this morning with an old friend and two new ones - Andie Grace from Burning Man HQ, who I have known for serveral years and through several shades of red, and Bill & Savitri.

Bill is better known as performance artist Reverend Billy, the founder of the Church of Stop Shopping. The church (along with a choir) is winding their way across the US on their Shopocalypse Tour, and a filmmaker is following them, doing a documentary on commercialism in relation to Christmas. Andie decided that we needed to connect as they came through KC, and a fine idea it was.

I felt rather rockstaresque being wired for a microphone as they filmed about an hour's discussion at the IHOP coffee shop. The Reverend and I share common ground in a few areas and stake out opposite positions on others, but I found him to be a delightful conversationalist and all around good guy. Savitri is a deep well with a hunger for truth and authenticity. Andie is unique in all the planet. I was so glad that she and Kelsey met. Now my Burning Man friends can say with authority "Yes, he has a wife."

I am SO jealous! Did you at least think to get autographs for some of your friends???

Belated comment- I too am jealous-- I would have dearly, deeply loved to be part of this converstion. And I do see your and Bill's missions as convergent in many ways (though radically dissimilar in others--viva la differance, I say). I may just have to join you & yours in prayer someday at the IHOP n KC. With love, Lee.
