Oh Wholly Night...

Through the years, in attempting to describe the Indescribable God, writers have settled on a clever phrase that speaks volumes in a few short syllables.

God: He is wholly other than. The God of the Big Surprise.

Wholly other than what we are able to do. Wholly other than all we know or have come to expect. Wholly other than how we react. Strong where we are weak, right when we are wrong, patient where we are impertinent, He rises to the occassion where we fall far short.

A picture of the holy, wholly Other Than is seen as a perfect reverse casting of our own nature. He is exactly what I am not, and exactly not what I am. This is the Other Than I crave. Nothing else fills the voids of my character and insecurities.
