One day, I'm going to start a talk with the words "It was a quiet week in Lake Wobegon, my hometown....out there, on the edge of the prairie."

Only a small fraction will understand. And I don't care.

They may not understand, but if you bring one of those mouth-sound-effects guys, at least they would be entertained. And perhaps then you can explain to the young adults what this old-fashioned thing called radio drama is.

Ah yes, I had forgotten this convergence of old and modern technology: radio converted to podcast. Though with a couple NPR stations in the area I usually don't need to get the podcast; I simply amuse myself by switching back and forth between stations and seeing if one is a few seconds behind the others.
