We can't take toothpaste on an airplane, but Down Under....

SYDNEY, Australia (AP) -- Members of an Australian TV comedy show, one of them dressed as Osama bin Laden, drove through two security checkpoints Thursday before being stopped near the Sydney hotel where U.S. President George W. Bush is staying.

Well, obviously they had all of their liquids in small, Ziploc baggies!

I heard about that this morning on Good Morning America (of which I can only catch 20minutes). Crazy!!!

The public opinion of Bush and the American way of life is not real positive down here. The extravagance of security for Bush at the APEC conference is laughed at by the press and public alike. Actually, laughed isn't a good word for it... And really, what person needs 600-700 people to come with him in 3 huge airplanes (one for Bush to fly in, one for backup in case that one fails, one to carry the other people and, oh yes, there are other aircraft that carried the car and helicopters that Bush needs to drive around in). Sidney is fenced in, literally, by all the security for one man. (never mind that he brought 250 secret service guys to protect him). I don't know, it just doesn't go down well here. We would like to send you Helen, our PM, but we don't have the airplanes to do it. She got rid of all of them b/c we don't need to defend ourselves. Unless she would take Air New Zealand. But there is a big scandal of Air NZ taking Aussie soldiers to Iraq... Sorry, I'm ranting.

The really funny part is that their comedy show actually airs on the ABC in Australia, which is a government station, tax payer funded. And, they were specifically warned by police before APEC not to cause trouble. It is the Australian way, pushing the boundaries to see what will happen! The scary part is they got through two check points!!
