late night confessional....

I bought something tonight that I thought I'd never buy. I'm not sure why I did it. Maybe I'm trying to be young again. Maybe I'm trying to compensate for having taken my earrings out a few weeks ago. Who knows. It wasn't premeditated. Or even just meditated. I...just...did it.

My name is Randy Bohlender, I'm thirty eight years old, and I bought my first pair of flip flops.

Growing up on the farm, we never would have worn these things. We wore boots. Tall boots. Up to the knees. And when we rode motorcycles or horses, we tucked our jeans in our boots. That's another thing. We never wore shorts either. Most North Dakota summers feature about 3 good short wearing days, and we were probably riding horses those days. Nothing looks dumber than a guy with boots and shorts riding a horse.

Well, I don't own a horse anymore. Or a motorcycle (although that's a sore subject and don't go there, ok). So it was time to take a footwear risk.

Flip flops. I got me some.

I bet they look like these. And if they don't, WHY NOT?!?!? :)

I could not imagine walking in Gary Lamb's shoes.

Ewww... I don't even like looking at Gary's shoes. Those are some ugly feet, dude! I can't even begin to go near thinking about walking in his shoes.

Yuck!

FLIP FLOPS!!!!! We have lost you forever. I thought there may be hope for you, to be a ND boy forever, deep down, but this has shown me you have become a traitor to our world and are not among us any more...SMILING."KY"

Two words are needed when asked why I don't wear sandles or flip flops.

We are coming back Tuesday evening. The toe deal stems from being poor as a child and forced to wear shoes that were 2 sizes too small. ok, I joke, I have ugly feet. It is a genetic thing. Dad had em, I have em and my children have em. At least we're cute in the mug. :)
