AP Wire | 10/30/2005 | Bush expected to name new nominee Monday: "'You have both sides poles apart and insistent on finding some answer to that question in advance of the hearing, which no one is entitled to,' said Sen. Arlen Specter, R-Pa. He cautioned factions on either side of the abortion issue to not expect the nominee to address the subject. 'Guarantees are for used cars and washing machines, not for Supreme Court justices,' he said."
Well, that's clever, Senator...but the word you're looking for is warranty. The litmus test that everyone is in denial about has already been applied to countless nominees for federal courts - the test being "if you're pro life, forget it.".
Hunker down, Mr. President. Make a bold nomination and let the games begin.
