Irony on the Great American Highway

The state of Louisiana has the most luxurious welcome centers I have ever seen. Situated on a treed 5 acre plot dotted with picnic tables, they boast of a huge Colonial building. Inside the building you will find a zillion brochures ranging from state maps to directories of local alligator farms. They have free coffee and are hosted by two very sweet blue haired granies whose entire job is to get you to spend as much time in Louisiana as possible, and are not above talking you to death if need be.

I find this all quite interesting for a state zoned entirely Gp1, or General Purpose Parking Lot.

Louisiana isn't all horrible. (Even though I do itch to get out of this state sometimes.)
