Zion gets new gear...

All day long on Saturday, Zion asked "So....are we going to the store, yet?"

It turns out that Mom had told him that if he had enough money, he could buy a skateboard. Little did we know he had enough money. At five years old, it's been hard for him to hold a steady job.

I dropped them off at the door and by the time I parked the Behemoth Suburban and made it back to the Sporting Goods section, Zion was holding a skateboard and shopping for helmets. There is something irresistable about a little boy holding a skateboard that is almost exactly as long as he is tall.

Meanwhile, my Blackberry starts buzzing. It's Ben Kilen - he wants to know if Zion has an amp. I say yes. He txts back "I've got an old electric guitar and pedal he can have."

I didn't tell Zion why we were stopping at Kilens...I just took him to the door with me. Ben met us and presented him with one official beat up rock star electric guitar in a hard case and an effects pedal. The guitar bests the skateboard in that it really IS longer than he is tall and in the case, probably outweighs him. It didn't stop him from trying to carry it to the truck by himself! (he made it 2/3 of the way...).

Last night he went to sleep surrounded by his new gear - one happy boy. Thanks, Ben!!

HAHAHA... lol... well you haven't seen how I play now have you? (kidding)....

... actually more than anything wrist guards for Zion... seriously... if he doesn't have them let me know... I used to sell boards and blades... and most injuries are elbow or wrist... (with the skateboard, I better clear that up for the dense)... LOL

Yesterday before leading a minimally successful prophetic outreach, I nonetheless "ollied" to a height of 2.5 inches. It was the first time I caught any air in nearly 2 decades. CBB
