Tomorrow we fast. And the day after that. And thirty eight more, but try not to think of it that way. :)
The kids are in bed, the house is quiet, and I'm nursing my second cup of coffee at the kitchen table. I've got a stir in my spirit that I know goes far beyond the caffeine though.
I have more anticipation around this fast than any other that I've taken part in since 2000. In 2000, I was fasting with faith, believing for living water in the desert. Those weeks were a hinge in our family history.
A few weeks ago, hearing Lou Engle thunder in the FSM building even as God Almighty thundered outside the building, I felt that same faith rise again. Let's believe that 2007 in a hinge for the nation, and we're about to put our shoulder to the door.
We've prepared a reading schedule that our family is going to use. Others are joining in, and I encourage you to as well. You can view it here. Hit print and stick it in your Bible for quick reference.
If you're in the KC area, we're going to be meeting at noon every Friday during the fast to hear from one another about our journey and encourage one another in the fast. Meet us at my office in the Birchwood Center facility.
