Isn't it interesting....

Sunday morning, Mike taught on Zechariah 12-14.

Zechariah 12:1-3
1
This is the word of the Lord concerning Israel. The Lord, who stretches out the heavens, who lays the foundation of the earth, and who forms the spirit of man within him, declares: 2 "I am going to make Jerusalem a cup that sends all the surrounding peoples reeling. Judah will be besieged as well as Jerusalem. 3 On that day, when all the nations of the earth are gathered against her, I will make Jerusalem an immovable rock for all the nations. All who try to move it will injure themselves.

You've gotta wonder - how does that happen? How do the nations of the earth mobilize against one small country with little-to-no national resources (providing you don't think being God's favorite is a natural resource...).

Suddenly, things transpire...and you began to see just how this could all come down. Monday, while firing on Hezbolla, Israel manages to kill UN troops. Many nations, neutral until now, find themselves in the awkward political situation of burying their own soldiers because of the actions of Israel. It's easy to speculate that a backlash could arrise from only a few of these sorts of events.

Mean, while, in a peat bog in Ireland, someone finds a copy of an old book.... A guy is moving muck with a backhoe and sees it laying in the dirt. Sensing that it might be old, he covers it with damp soil to keep it from drying out, and the next day, brings out some scientists who decide that it is a copy of scripture from 800-1000AD. Here's the kicker:
"The book was found open to a page describing, in Latin script, Psalm 83, in which God hears complaints of other nations' attempts to wipe out the name of Israel."
Isn't it interesting that this book surfaces at all? Let alone now? You couldn't make this stuff up.

And you don't have to.

I wondered if you'd run across that bog book article--too close for comfort, huh?
