My second-hand Treo arrived two days ago, pretty much as advertised (a little nicked but functional) and I am officially back in PalmWorld.
If I understand things, I am the last big fan of the Palm OS in the entire world. I've been using a loaned iPaq for nine months and while I appreciate the slickness of it, I kept ending up with sixteen windows open. I love the simplicity of the Palm.
My first PDA was a Palm III that was gifted to me on Fathers Day of 2000. A friend from our church owned it and I was enthralled with it. She looked at it, looked at me, and said "Here. It's yours." I was sold immediately.
That Palm organized my world. It got me where I was supposed to go, on time, and once I installed Docs to Go, under budget as well. My favorite Palm memory is when the trailer hitch fell off Steve Sjogren's RV in remote Iowa and I whipped out my Palm to open a spreadsheet containing every truck stop's contact info on I-80. I was an electronic hero.
It's funny, but the first piece of software that I installed on this Treo is something called Big Clock, which is, uh....self explanitory. I was tickled to find it because it's the exact same thing I had on my Palm III six years ago. I guess it's difficult to improve on a...big clock.

Nope, it's not just you. Palm OS is streets better than Windoze mobile. I had an iPaq - did a lot but none of it very well. Now I have Sjogren's old 650 and, well, it just works. Sad news is that (or so I heard, anyway), PalmOne are switching the Treo to Windoze. Whatever next - Macs'll be running XP or something equally ridiculous.......
I think you can get the new Treo 700 in windows or palm OS.
As for the iPaq sync, using the Mark/Space program "Missing Sync" you can sync just about anything. I just transfered files from my electric razor to my toaster.
Randy...I have had a Treo 650 for a year now. The first 10 months of it was hell. I am on my thrid Treo and I have had nothing but problems synching to my Mac. I was found loudly repeating Treo, Treo, smash it on a Tree...OH! Finally someone I know patiently searched every site talking about synch problems and solved mine. I have had two months of blissful peace with my Treo and enjoying it. Thank God for techy friends.
Uh, Sandie, you're probably in no mood to hear this, but I had mine syncing ten minutes after it arrived, via iSync with no third party software. And I thought the 600 was the twitchy model.
Arrrrrgggggg! I KNEW I was allergic to technology!
No, I can take it, I can take it.
